Smart Grid Workshop Netherlands

Gas Network Operators need to respond to increasing challenges, which include:

  • An aging infrastructure and increased pressures on Capital Expenditure
  • Environmental pressures to reduce leakage
  • Enabling cost-effective integration of green gases (e.g. biomethane or hydrogen)
  • Grid management complexity (transformation towards bi-directional gas supply chain)

In order to respond to these challenges

  • Utonomy has created an intelligent monitoring and control platform for low and medium pressure gas distribution grids that is designed to be retrofitted to existing gas distribution equipment
  • Leveraging the investment of the platform with bolt on sensors and software, will enable ubiquitous intelligent control within gas distribution

Initial idea sparked by Paul Denniff (Network Director SGN), this workshop was intended as a stakeholder group meeting to share thoughts, possibilities and concrete plans to move into the future of gas distribution grids.
