Successful UtonomyOne installation at Delgaz Grid

Utonomy, the intelligent gas grid specialist, is delighted to announce the successful installation of its medium pressure solution at Delgaz Grid.

In May 2026 Utonomy installed the first phase of the full UtonomyOne solution on the Delgaz medium pressure network at Resita, in western Romania. This included the new SB750 actuators, operational at pressures up to 8 or 9 bar, deployed in a retrofit capacity on legacy Totalgaz Industrie pressure regulators.

Within the first month, Utonomy has already established and proven reliable remote set-point control, ensuring that the three network extremity low points closely tracked the set-point changes at the pressure reduction station (PRS).

The fast success of this first phase has enabled the pressure management trial project to move quickly to the final phase (Phase 4) in which Upredict will be deployed to create an intelligent gas grid, well ahead of the planned schedule by five months.

Upredict is Utonomy’s new AI / machine-learning pressure set-point scheduler, and was developed as part of the Intelligent Gas Grid project which recently won the Net Zero Innovation award at the UK Gas Industry Awards. The ambition in the Delgaz partnership from all parties involved is a region-wide deployment, retrofitting pressure reduction stations to create a modernised, remote control, truly intelligent gas grid with reduced methane emissions.

Brian Croal, Sales Director at Utonomy, said:

“We were delighted how smoothly the installation and commissioning of the system went with the Utonomy and Delgaz teams working closely in partnership to complete everything at all four locations within the three day window as planned.”

Tudor Pop, Director of Strategy & Gas Network Technology at Delgaz Grid, commented:

“We are very pleased with the way this pilot project has been implemented and with the excellent collaboration between the Delgaz Grid and Utonomy teams. The initial results confirm the potential of the solution to contribute to the modernization and digitalization of gas distribution networks. We look forward to the conclusions of the next phase, which will allow us to evaluate the benefits on a larger scale and the opportunity to expand this solution across Delgaz Grid’s network.”

The Utonomy suite of actuators is compatible with a wide range of regulators with a wide range of outlet pressures; is ATEX Zone 0 certified; and is suitable for new and retrofit installations across Europe.
